Since the fervor for the game isВ not as hot as it was a month ago, it's easy to forget the countless stories that circulatedВ of how it brought people together. Yet, doing so consciously disregards all the good the app вЂ“ and the technology behind it вЂ“ has facilitated. In context of a potential suchВ situation, it would be easy in a very superficial sense to claim that PokГ©mon Go is yet another domino toward the supposedly inevitableВ 'cell-phone zombie'В apocalypse. Then again, theВ situationalВ awareness necessaryВ to avoid such an occurrence soundsВ no less demanding than that of those who playВ Humans versus Zombies.В When PokГ©mon Go was announced last fall we talked toВ Dave Edborg, a Patrol MajorВ forВ Public Safety, who pointed out thatВ they'd expect students to handle it in a similar manner, with a comparable amount of attentiveness and respect for others. While charting the map, we certainly noticed a large number of Pokestops (as well as Nests) on, or at least in proximity to, the Quarter Mile and other adjacent paths on campus.В It sounds trivial and overly-specificВ to think about,В but withВ people walking, longboarding and biking in every possible directionВ to get to and from class, it's not hard to imagine even a usually aware pedestrian becoming momentarilyВ distracted by a Horsea popping its headВ and causing someone to swerve out of control. For awhile it seemed like one couldn't go on Twitter,В r/gaming or evenВ your local news stationВ without seeing someone else who hadВ fallen off a cliff or crashed their carВ while playing PokГ©mon Go, as well as someone else confused and irritated by the flood of millennials Poke-hunting on private property вЂ“В or even hallowed ground.В I mean that neither asВ an indictment of PokГ©mon GoВ nor a claim that suchВ issues haveВ sinceВ beenВ fixed ( manyВ haven't), but purely as an observation of the general awareness that now exists for such cases where people allowed themselves to be too drawn into it. With almost two monthsВ between PokГ©mon Go's release and the start of the school year here at RIT, we as a campus have the benefit of having had several facets and issuesВ of the game extensively (if not tirelessly)В examined by users, the media and Niantic alike.

We feel confident thoughВ that atВ the moment RIT has nests for Ekans, Machop, Eevee, Charmander, Horsea and Geodude.В Niantic has not given any indication one way or another when or if they plan to change spawn sites again in the future, but it's worth noting that we've been unable to come across PokГ©mon who apparently had nests before likeВ GrowlitheВ and Hitmonlee. Our findings were taken after NianticВ changed where PokГ©mon appeared ( chronicled here by Techinsider)В toward the end of July and after third-partyВ tracking websites like Pokevision were taken down. The map also identifies what nests (specific areas where you can consistently catch the same PokГ©mon) areВ within the vicinity of campus.В This was determined then by recording which PokГ©mon spawned multiple times in the same area f or more than one person, excludingВ common PokГ©mon like Caterpie, Pidgey, Weedle and Rattata. InВ the open space behindВ Sol Heumann Hall.OnВ the Quarter Mile right before the Gordon Field House and Activities Center.One can do soВ here on campus quite easily:

Many have found that using lures on such Pokestops concurrently can make catching PokГ©mon that much easier, as each lure supposedlyВ pulls from it's own pool, exponentially increasing the number that pop up thisВ m akes it an ideal time to use a Lucky Egg and IncenseВ as well.В One can do soВ here on campus quite easily onВ the Quarter Mile right before the Gordon Field House and Activities Center, onВ the walkway betweenВ James E. RIT is no exception as there has turned out to be quite the concentration of both here.ДЇor those who might have been sitting on their Lures, thereВ are several spots in which the Pokestops in close proximity overlap. Very often host to several landmarksВ andВ pieces ofВ publicВ artworkВ вЂ“ many of which were locations in Niantic's previous game 'Ingress' вЂ“ college campusesВ across the country have been prime territory to find a great number of Pokestops and Gyms. Aside from feeding our own Poke-addiction(s) we sought to provide an accurate and comprehensive guide of allВ the Pokestops, Gyms and spawning sites for PokГ©mon here on campus.
